Open an account at a branch: we’re here to help

While it’s possible to open a bank account online, you can also get it done at one of our 41 branches throughout Luxembourg.

Save time when opening your account: prepare your visit to your local branch

Opening a bank account at your branch takes around one hour. By sending us the necessary documents mentioned above before your appointment, we’ll be able to open your account in half the time.

To speed up your appointment:

  • Scan or take a photo of your supporting documents,
  • Send the documents and provide your phone number by clicking on the button below, or send an e-mail to welcome@bgl.lu.

A BGL BNP Paribas advisor will call you back to schedule an appointment at your preferred branch. The opening of your current account will be finalised during your appointment.

If you’re unable to send us your documents in advance, no problem! Set up an appointment with an advisor directly at one of our branches.

What documents do I need to provide to open an account?

In order to open a new bank account at one of our branches, we need you to  provide the following documents:

  • A valid form of ID,
  • A recent payslip (dated within the last three months) or your employment contract,
  • Proof of address dated within the last three months: certificate of residence, electricity, gas, water or landline bill,
  • Your tax identification number.

Good to know

If you’re a Luxembourg resident, your ID card alone will be enough to open a bank account at a branch.

Make an appointment at your branch

The personal data contained in the documents sent to BGL BNP Paribas will be processed by the bank, in its capacity as controller, for the purpose of processing your application to open an account in accordance with pre-contractual measures.

It will also be processed in accordance with our client due diligence measures, based on our legal and regulatory obligations. If an account is not opened, this data may be kept for 10 years in accordance with our legal obligations. If an account is opened, this data will be kept for a maximum period of 10 years from the end of the contractual relationship.

    It is recommended that you make an appointment to open your current account at your branch, in order to shorten waiting times. Depending on how busy it is, it won’t always be possible to open your account without an appointment.
