In Luxembourg and elsewhere, citizens are becoming increasingly mindful of the energy transition. And, for some of you, the recent soaring energy prices may have been the final straw. Self-consumption is a great way to reconcile ecology and economy.

What is self-consumption?

Self-consumption is when you use energy you have generated yourself through solar or photovoltaic panels.

This 100% green energy allows you to play a full part in the energy transition, while drastically reducing your electricity bills. The electricity you generate will actually be free, as you only pay the tax, and you can also sell the surplus energy you produce back to the network.

Photovoltaic panels are enjoying growing success in Luxembourg.

Financing your photovoltaic installation

The first step to energy self-consumption is to invest in installing photovoltaic panels.

If you need financing and want to spread your expenditure over time, we can offer you energy retrofitting loans at an advantageous rate.

These loans, ranging from €1,000 to €75,000, can be repaid over 12 to 120 months. This means that you’ll soon have access to cheap, green energy while repaying your loan at a pace that suits you.

Good to know

The government has introduced financial aid to mitigate the impact of rising energy prices and above all speed up the energy transition.

You can thus benefit from a number of public subsidies for the installation of your photovoltaic panels, in particular PRIMe House subsidies. These will substantially reduce the amount you need to invest.

Self-consumption – a springboard to green mobility

Choosing self-consumption makes it easier to opt for a green form of transport. And that’s because charging your vehicle at home will cost you less!

Again, there’s an initial outlay to make to cover the cost of:

  • purchasing your electric or rechargeable hybrid vehicle;
  • installing a high-performance charging point at home.

BGL BNP Paribas has designed a solution that makes it easier for you to transition to green mobility.

Firstly, we’re offering a green mobility loan at preferential rates for the purchase of your vehicle and the charging point. Secondly, we’ve joined forces with our partners Diego and Enovos to offer support with:

  • submitting your application for the charging point government subsidy;
  • installing your home charging point;
  • acquiring an enodrive zen card so you can charge your vehicle on the public network.

BGL BNP Paribas and Arval Luxembourg are also giving you the chance to hit the road in an all-inclusive electric vehicle via a private leasing contract.

Good to know

The €8,000 subsidy granted by the government for the purchase of an electric vehicle has been extended until 31 March 2024. So you’ll be able to considerably reduce your bill by choosing a fully electric car today.
