    What are the conditions for opening an account in Luxembourg?

    Just arrived in Luxembourg? In most cases, you’ll need a current account with a Luxembourg bank fairly quickly. This will enable you to get paid, pay your rent or simply shop for what you need.

    To open an account in Luxembourg, you’ll need to meet the following condition:

    • You must be aged 18 or over and legally competent.

    Can I open a bank account before I arrive in Luxembourg?

    You can open a bank account online before you arrive in Luxembourg.

    If you already have an employment contract, you can prepare before you arrive by starting your application online or by emailing expat@bgl.lu, stating your arrival date.

    If you do not yet have accommodation in Luxembourg, these documents can be used instead of a proof of address:

    •  a declaration of arrival with a residence permit;
    •  a certificate of accommodation(3).

    What documents are required to open a bank account in Luxembourg?
    • A valid form of ID;
    • your employment contract or a payslip dated within the last two months, proof of income or a certificate of school attendance;
    • proof of address: certificate of residence (dated within the last two months), electricity, gas or water bill, home insurance certificate, or landline bill (dated within the last two months);
    • your tax number and proof of tax residence, which can be found on your CNS card (if you live in Luxembourg), your identity card (if you live in Belgium), or your tax return (if you live in France);
    •  your e-mail address and your phone number so that we can contact you;
    • A LuxTrust certificate, if you have one.

    How to log in to the LuxTrust Mobile app?

    Before downloading the LuxTrust Mobile app, please make sure you have your LuxTrust login details. These are:

    • A user ID composed of four letters and four digits (e.g. ABCD1234);
    • A six-digit secret code that you chose when you activated your Token.

    Do you already have your LuxTrust login details?

    Download the LuxTrust Mobile app from your app store (iOS OR Android) and follow the instructions.

    Have you lost your LuxTrust login details? Here’s how to get them back:

    • On the LuxTrust website
    • Contact LuxTrust on (+352) 24 550 550.

    When you’ve received your login details:

    1. Go to the LuxTrust website to get your password;

    2. Once you’ve recovered your password:

      - Download the LuxTrust app for iOS or ;
      - Download the LuxTrust app for Android.

    3. Follow the instructions in the app.
